Change pump wear ring without vice ?

Hi guys

I’m away at a beach house, and need to change the wear ring in the pump of my 2010 rxt.

The pump is out....all good there, but I have no vice to clamp the pump in to take the impeller out.

I feel like using the towbar on my car has potential, but can’t quite get my head around how to do it.

Does anyone have any bright ideas on how I could clamp the pump to get the impeller out?

I have a spare vice for this purpose and use 2 U shaped bolts and bolt the vice to the tongue of the trailer. I also have all the tools I need and a big torque wrench in my truck tool box. Works great.

My advice is to make a trip to the hardware store and purchase a vice and 2 U bolts, washers, nuts and git-r-done.

Put the pump in freezer for an hour then using two sets of vise grips 180 apart tap the pump with a rubber mallet, skip to around 1:50 in the video. If this doesn't work then as jpt said vice etc.

is your prop shaft flat for an adjustable wrench or does it accept a 10 mm allen wrench ? and the freezer trick works well, in and out , hack saw and take a notch out, if the freezer doesn't work

ps, i never tried a wear ring r&r with the impeller in

I ended up taking a whole replacement pump with me. Great ideas though!.......will definitely remember for next time.
