Hello, yes still running the SLX. Also still running my XCR 800 after 20 years . It has HTG shims and pipes. I have been eating pistons for a few years now. I am almost thinking the crank is out of phase. Every time it happens it melts the front of the piston right into the rings. Everybody says fuel but I am running non ethanol 93 with a splash of race fuel. Clean carbs. It runs great and goes great until you tap it out for a minute. So I am looking to get the crank in good shape and to get rid of the shims, maybe some porting to go with the HTG pipes. I am open to suggestions though. I want to make it pull better than it ever has. I have your number and will call you this week. Glad to hear you guys are still tinkering. The SLX has been great.
