What am I missing?? No start 2010 RXT-X 260
Hey All - Me again with my dumpster fire resurrection project...
Last week I was finally able to get this started (barely) for the first time since ~2013. I siphoned old gas, replaced with fresh and tried it out. It was rough as hell and sounded like it was running on 2 of the 3 cylinders and backfired a bit before dying. Since then, I've done the following:
- Replaced spark plugs
- Swapped coils from my 2013 GTI
- Verified I have spark on all three
- Pulled the injectors and cleaned them while open with 9 volt battery (forgetting it was under pressure and nearly blinding myself lol)
- Verified that I can hear the fuel pump coming on with key
- Checked compression 120 / 115 / 133 (not ideal, I know)
- Checked both side of the tank pressure relief valves
After all that, it will turn over but just will not start anymore. What the heck am I missing???
Thanks!Last edited by WhatHaveIDone; 12-01-2020 at 05:29 PM.

I should add - when I tested spark, it seemed a much stronger on the front cylinder but all three did have it. I cleaned the injectors but maybe they aren't turning on? I found some corrosion on some of the wiring. I bought the service manual but I don't have the BUDS system. Is there a safe way to test if fuel is actually coming out of the injectors during startup?

Could still use some help!!! I'm closer but not there yet. I pulled the fuel rail off and hit the start button, all three injectors pushed about the same amount of fuel so those seem ok. I pulled the throttle body and it was crusty and locked up. Loosened it all up and lubricated it and I can feel it self test when I put the key in. Also, verified spark, again.
At this point, the only way I can get it running is on starter fluid right into the throttle body. I have fuel, spark and air, I think. What the hell am I missing?? It's got to be something stupid.
Anyone????

I feel like I'm starting a blog with this thread
Today's update and lesson learned... When draining the old gas out of the tank, don't forget about the gas lines leading to the engine! After kick starting it with starter fluid and spraying it several times to keep it running, I finally flushed out the bad gas and would you know it??? It starts right up now! Imagine that? Anyhow, I hope this rookie mistake helps someone out in the future!
