Do you have to block off the oil pump on a Genesis?
Curious as to why you would have to block off the oil pump. Why you couldn't just run premix and not remove the pump etc.

Genesis i CAN NOT run premix.
On CARB models the oil pump is lubricated by the oil it pumps.
Premix will not lube the pump.
Lines need to be capped off to prevent air entering carbs.Last edited by K447; 11-25-2020 at 01:52 PM.

just put the pump back in...they work great ive never seen an issue with one in the 15 or 20 we have owned and ran in our group, id never go premix, such hassle and less effective.

IIRC, the "block off kit" was the block off plate and 3 rubber caps for the carb oil fittings.
The block off plate just bolts to the front of the engine.
The 1200's use a white plastic oil pump drive. It simply slides over the front of the crankshaft/flywheel nut.
When JUST doing the block off, they would have left the drive in place.
IF they had engine/flywheel apart, they MIGHT have removed the oil pump drive.
