supercharger gear question
Is it safe to reuse a gear? there's nothing wrong with it visually. I normally wouldn't but I can't find a new 17 tooth gear to buy.

Doesn't a new gear come with the rebuild kits?

Yep......which has a manufacturing problem and meshes WAAYyyy too tight into the ring gear. They sent me 3 more and they're all the same but I'm the only one that has mentioned this. SOOooo there will be many unhappy people when the new bound up gear with ZERO backlash breaks and sends debris and needle bearings through an engine. I can't believe I'm the only one that has paid enough attention to detail to notice this issue. So I need to either find a new 17 tooth gear or reuse the oem one.

Did you buy an aftermarket rebuild kit or is this oem?

It's a WSM kit.....which I've used many of over several years. In fact, I use almost all WSM parts in all my repair work. They have nice parts and their kits use F A G bearings. Have not had any issues before.

I believe sea doo said specifically to not use aftermarket kits and so did a few of the guys who do rebuilds for a living. The oem kit is only a couple bucks more and is the correct specs. If I was in this boat I'd throw the aftermarket kit in the garbage and go buy a oem kit. Your gambling a motor if something goes wrong in rebuild.
