Polaris slx
Ok its a Polaris triple 780 I believe..
The starter turns when I hit the button but does not kick in the bendix to the flywheel.
Any info or pics or a link to a good diagram to the bendix would be appreciated.
I assume the bendix is stuck and wont kick out to hit the flywhee becausee?? its rusted up? spring broke?? who knows.
Oh yea and can I take the front cover off to get to it???
This is my friends ski im helping him with.
Thanks fellas. 6 six pack to who helps me out..

Yeah take the flywheel cover off, and then you may need to take off the inner cover too...I dont quit remember. Bottom line get the front cover off and it will all become apparent.
Here is the parts diagram:

I hate to break your heart, but the inner does need to come off to remove the bendix. Unfortunately you need to remove the flywheel in the process. Nothing is hard to do, but the flywheel will be a mother F'er if she's never been off before. It's red loctited from the factory. Get a harmonic balancer puller for the flywheel. Don't bottom out the bolts, otherwise you can damage the stator behind the flywheel. And a impact wrench is a good tool to use when trying to back off the flywheel. Get some real strong washers too, they will bend under the stress of backing it off.

I don't know of any tricks, but if you pull it out you may be able to lube it to get it working again.

I figured it out. battery was so low that the starter would only spin.
found this out after I took the front cover off. pryed the bendix out and hit he start button. Nothing..
Put a good battery in and BAMN.
Thanks for the help guys and im really glad I didnt have to pull hte flywheel.
I would of taken this ski back to the guy that owns it. He is in florida and I was just helping him out with his wifes ski while he was gone so they can ride this weekend.
I told him to buy a yamaha next time.

No spark after 3 mins or so run...
