    XL800 seal replacement

    I haven't done a leak down test on this motor yet but I suspect it is leaking somewhere. I'm thinking it doesn't have enough pressure to operate the carbs properly. The needle valves stick closed and I think the pressures in the motor are too low to pop the diaphragms open at startup. Once it starts it's golden until it sits for a week. I plan to check the pressure/seal this weekend. I know this is a little premature but I want to know ahead, do I have to open the crankcase to change these seals? I'm looking at the service manual and I can't tell from it.

    Yes, the seals fit in a slot sandwiched between the teo case halves
