    Prop not catching shaft

    Hi
ive recently sold my ski , but before I did I did the carbon ring . The lad called me up saying it was just revving and not moving . So I went for a look , the prop seems the spinning freely on the shaft , obviously this isnít meant to be the case . Any ideas what Iíve maybe done ? Now I tested this for at least half an hour and it was fine . Is it maybe just a coincidence?

    thanks

Either stripped splines at prop or driveshaft.
Somehow the distance from engine to pump was changed or your just unlucky.

Perhaps the jetpump was not seated all the way forward to the hull or the rubber bumper frontside drive shaft was not re-installed. Allowing driveshaft more axial play.

The “rubber bumper” is the small rubber cap that is supposed to be on the motor end of the PTO shaft

Sorry thought I had uploaded a photo . Yeah that wee rubber was definitely on. I’ll try and up load a photo of the prop

That rubber nose cone is shot.
But it is not essential for the driveline. Itís only for sealing.
You need to inspect your splines at shaft/inside impeller

Should the drive shaft be sticking out further in the picture above ? Looks like it only goes in the prop about 15mm? And also is the shaft meant to be slight tapered ?
