SLX780 and SL900 performance questions
Can a 785 motor be swaped into a slx780? I'm guessing they would probably be very hard to find but has it been done? How difficult is it? What about swapping in a bigger motor shuch as a 1200? I'm just thinking ahead if the motor ever goes. 140 hp would be very nice. What I would really like to do now is find some triple pipes for my 96 780slx or 97 sl900. Are these available anywhere? Are there triples from any other year/model that would fit? I read something in another post about PSI triples. Are these bolt on? Who makes them? Where can they be found? Does this install mean I would have to run 92 octane?

I disagree, the 785 has triple pipes that go forward. Ask Beerdart if his was an easy drop in, or Rodneyae if he needed to do some mods. Check the projects section for these two. They listed them with pics.

Not easy with the pipes. If it were not for the pipes it would be an easy swap. But if you did not add the pipes you would not have the power.

I meant the 785 engine without pipes wouldnt be much fun
Installing a 785 engine in a boat it wasnt intended for?? CERTAINLY would be fun!!
and on one other note....the 785 engine without pipes may not be the ideal way to run it, but you should start it sometime with just the manifolds on...whoooo hoooo!!! loud as hell!!
