400+ for a race ski isn't terribly hard to get once you run a different blower/turbo. Riva claimed 430hp on the setup I had. I know a few ultra guys running bigger valves, overbored motors, turbos, stroker cranks, and other voodoo but they aren't grudge racers. They run APBA or IJSBA where top speed is pretty meaningless.

Kawasaki ran their factory GP race boat with a supercharger AND turbo with a 250x top deck and 15f bottom for a while. Their open boat was a turbo only. Those were between 380 and 450 depending on tune and kawasaki's budget that year.

Despite being my favorite hull, there just aren't many people running built STXs

I have it on good authority that the STX is a 100mph hull with the right power and pump setup.

Ironically, in this article a nearly identical ski was proposed to Kawasaki back in 2014... The proposed build spec sounds great, albeit lofty, but even if some of the suggested mods were omitted in the final build it's clear that it went nowhere with Kawi.

On a side note, it seems the Ultra hull was grafted to the STX by Kawi for the 06 world Finals along with a supercharged engine. Would love to see one of those skis up close or at least some detailed photos of the hull inside and out.

Kawi has the potential to challenge for more market share but seem uninterested for whatever reason. Which is a shame!

The idea didn't come out with that article, Kawasaki filed patent applications for the ski back in 2006.

    https://patents.google.com/patent/US...rcharge&page=3

It's clearly a STX hull in the patent. They had supercharged 15f test boats running around for years near Dana Point but never produced any for sale. The old top decks didn't fit the supercharger/exhaust setup while the new top deck does which probably plays into it.

As for the old race boats, this was the factory "STX-R" with an Ultra bottom on it at World Finals back in 2013.

Speed Magic was also showing off their SXR-1500 that year...

I don't have any pictures of the other setups which I am now really bummed about.

I found a way to view an old greek website that did ride reports and pictures of old race boats.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20130719...ts.php?id=1027

Its worth a look, if you can't read greek use a translator. There is TONS of interesting info there.

Hmmm... A trim tab on the ride plate. Very interesting!

Looks like they my have the trim locked out on the nozzle and use the tab on the plate to plant the nose to turn the boat?

Not quite, its an auto drop nozzle, it changes trim based on bar position.

Its setup almost like a brake, it stuffs the nose down in turns so the hull grabs better. Lots of teams run pairs on the outer edges of the hull. This one is on the smaller side.

That is one of the features they talk about on the 2021 GP1800R.
