To Seal or Not Seal Head Gasket

I have been trying to deal with milky oil and have had to remove head a 2nd time.
The gasket was full of oil around cyl#1 and less on #4. Cyl#2 and #3 were dry.

When I reassemble with another new gasket who here would install it dry according to SM or use some type of permatex?

Spray 2 coats of spray copper coat. Let the first flash for 3 minutes and then spray the second coat. Assemble after second coat flashes for 1 minute.

Make sure you don’t have a warped head, put a straight edge on the valve side and slowly run it across edge to edge to see if there’s any huge gaps. If there are u might have to get it surfaced

    Head was resurfaced and redone.

One thing came to mind, the mechanic who installed head and cams, installed them backwards unknown too me.

When engine wouldn't fire, I tore into it again and saw they were backwards. Could trying to start engine out of timing have built up of pressure and blow out gasket?

I guess that would be possible. I just can’t trust most mechanics around my area
So I just do my own work with the help of my kid
I hope that was your problem and not something else, though you shouldn’t have to be doing this again

What do you mean installed them backwards? Can't picture what you're saying.

    Pretty much.

So, I went back to him to install head, cams and TC today as agreed and was met by his partner and was told couldn't leave it and to call partner and schedule appointment for 2 weeks.

Needless to say I was pissed . Would never go back.
