    No reed cage gasket???

So we pulled the carb rack and reed cages on our 01 GP1200R to inspect things, since the idle won't come down below 3000rpms. I noticed there isn't a gasket between the reed plate and cages or between the cages and the block. Should I use some sealant when installing our recently acquired 1300 cages?

    Thanks

It isn't called for but I sealed mine along with a new carburetor gasket. No high idle now.

Black RTV that's oil resistant, followed recommended curing that was on sealant.

If you feel like it needs more than the factory rubber lip seal then smear a bit of case sealant around them. 3 Bond, Yamabond, Motoseal, etc.

I was a little curious about this too it seems like the reed cages and the outer manifold gasket would be enough to cover it let me know what you guys think

    Motoseal will work too.

Thanks for all the input gentlemen. We picked up a set of 1300 cages and the seals seem to be in decent shape, but a little peace of mind never hurts.
