    2009 fzs leaking intercooler

My 2009 FZS has had slight hesitation at low RPM and when hammering on throttle from mid range speeds. I bought it about 6-7 weeks ago and itís been this way since I got it.

Today I finally pulled off the aftermarket intercooler and the entire lower intake tube was filled with water. Itís obviously been leaking badly that it was able to have that much water in it even after a few quick blips of the throttle on the trailer to clear it out. I canít believe it even ran as strong as it did at WOT.

Iím told itís possibly a JD1 and it has a greddy BOV.

I sent an email to Fizzle trying to figure out if the JD1 is closest in style to the 500 or the 1000 model to make sure Iím not going backwards in performance. Hopefully Iíll hear back soon and they have them in stock.

Anyone know how the JD1 compares to the fizzle 500/1000 and anyone have any experience with the generic BOV he sells in the kit vs the name brand HKS version.

Hoping to get it ordered tomorrow and that they have them in stock!

    Thanks

I’ve decided to just get the fizzle 1000 and call it a day. Will report back after installation on speed/rpm changes and overall performance.

Did you change your oil? I suggest that you change it, run it up to temp and then change the oil a second time. I had a bad experience with something like this a long time ago and trust me, that second oil change is worth it.

Yes I pumped out all oil and didn’t see any signs of water. I’m picking up a second oil change kit today to install while I wait for the fizzle to show up Saturday.

I’ll keep a close eye on the oil for sure though to make sure I don’t see any other signs of water and have an extra oil kit ready to go.

UPDATE: NEW FIZZLE 1000 INSTALLED TODAY!!

Had a great day on the lake. Was a bit choppy till later in the day.

Ski ran amazing but has low end cavitation still out of the gate. Impeller is a brand new solas concord 13/22.

When I first got the ski it had a dynafly 13/22R that was repitched by DEANS TEAM and it ran 72 mph even on the bad intercooler. I snapped that impeller and installed the concord and top speed dropped to 70. Today with the concord 13/22 and the new fizzle 1000 ran 74mph on GPS with 3/4 tank of gas and about 80 degrees in light chop.

Tomorrow I’m installing a proper tach to check RPM but am topping out at 8k right now on the dash.

Need to pick the brains of the DEANS TEAM to see what I should do with the impeller, re pitch the concord or buy a new dynafly and have that re pitched. I wanna get another 3-4 MPH out of it.

ALL hesitation is gone, just need to get it to hook up a bit better out of the hole and reduce some cavitation.
