    Question 97 XP top end bog and DESS post

    I took my new to me 97 XP out for the first time yesterday. I had 2 issues.
    1. The engine would just die randomly. This seemed like a DESS issue. The previous owned used dielectric grease on the keys. I added more but it didn't help. I assume I need a post and the dielectric grease was a band-aid.
    2. It had a bog at full throttle. It didn't seem like it was revving all the way. Still pretty fast though.

    I replaced the fuel lines already. They were clean on the inside.

    Random dying a lot of times is the DESS post. Bogging is normally carb rlated. Strictly based on age you need to rebuild the carbs.
