should i buy it? (urgent please read)

i know someone who has a yamaha gp1300r 2007 or 2008 not sure, that he modified completely from pistons to the ecu, he claims its faster than a rxp 260 the amount he spent on the modifications is $4250 and he wants to sell it for $3980, now i have a stock 1300 and i wanted to get a yamaha fzr which goes fro around +$6500, should i go for the gp or wait until i find a fzr?

    Welcome.

What is driving your rush to buy?
You have a running stock watercraft, correct?

Speed is measured by a GPS, not by hand waving comparisons to what another make and model may or may not do.

Acceleration comparisons lend themselves to stories.

Hand built for speed, money he spent, does not matter. What matters is whether there is attractive value in that 2-stroke machine for you.

What the FZR alternative is worth to you will also depend on condition. And apparently how fast it actually can go.

Where does expected reliability and future resale value fit into this?

Fast 2-strokes have people that like them and buy them, but that group seems to be getting smaller every year. A year or a few years from now, who are you going to sell your (possibly half-worn out) 2-stroke machine to?

Will you be doing your own maintenance and repairs?

Wait, you already have a 1300. Get an FZR.

This. The up side of a FZR is big. Not to mention parts are getting harder to find for 2 strokes.

Being rushed increases the risk of a poor outcome.
