Still Not Running A Strainer On Your 2-Stroke Kawasaki?

    That's fine.

But I'm glad I had one on mine!

    Steve,

Have one on my 02 900 with the old style pump intake.... have to clean out strainer once a week with all the hydrilla and weeds clogging the water now..... 03 STX has the strainer manifold on the pump and doesn't have the same clogging issues.

I didn't know that they put the new design on any of the 2-strokes. Thanks!

Should I install a "strainer" on my 2002 STX-R? How, what and where do I do so?

If your going to buy a pump and/or housing with the strainer feature shown, be sure to get one from 2012 or newer. They have the updated triple bearing/seal redesign.

Is there a recommended strainer set up for Ultra 150ís? Iím not much into making mods but this is definitely something the engineers should have done in the first place.
This should also be on your list of newbie must have mods.

Is that the RIVA strainer? Do you have a pic of it installed on your ski?

Kawasaki actually offered a small strainer for the Ultra 150 as a dealer installed option. They were the same kind readily available under a number of different names. They have very small screens that can clog easily, and they are prone to cracking and failure. Do not use them.

I use the Groco WSB-500. I've purchased a number of them from LFS Marine and Outdoor for about $25 each, by far the cheapest I've found. They've changed their website and their name, apparently they've merged with Go2Marine, and their prices have gone up to $35. You want the 1/2" fittings and the stainless steel screen.

Mcmaster dot com has the same strainer as well.
