    Bendix/Pto Cover

Does this bendix look to be in all the way? It seems to be sticking out about an 1/8" too far and the cover will not sit flush. The assembly spins freely. I've slid it out and back multiple times now, but it seems to end up in the same spot each time. Can anyone confirm the larger back gear is on correct and not flipped. I'd flip it, but I just put new flywheel bolts in and don't want to remove unless it needs to be.

If the rear gear does happen to be backwards. Can I remove the flywheel bolts and safely reinstall without buying new ones again?

The cover won't go on all the way. It seems to hit about 1/8" before mating flat.

Should this gear with the groove side shown face the motor or face out?Click image for larger version.

Do you have the starter motor installed? If so, make sure the bolt heads on the starter are not hitting the PTO housing. I had this exact problem once, aftermarket starter with different bolt heads were taller than OEM.
