    2008 VX Deluxe Oil Change

Got the oil change kit from the local shop. It came with 4 quarts of oil and the specifications say that oil capacity is 3.7 Quarts. When I pumped out the oil I got about a half gallon. Does this sound normal?

On the TR1 motor , i pull oil from the tube on the back/top (from head down to oil tank about 4 inches away from oil filter) of the motor to get more oil out , compared to the dipstick ..

Yep, 2 quarts is average for me too. I've always had more success of getting "more" oil out
if the engine was at operating temp. Sometimes more and sometimes less.
I also use a small rigid tube that inserts into the bottom center of the oil reservoir.
It goes down maybe another 2" below for more oil extraction.
Just change the oil / filter regularly and you will be good. Just remember that some "old" oil
will still exist "after" the oil change. My gets it once per year.

OK so I finally got the filters off. How tight should I put the new ones on. Just hand tight or tighter?

    Thanks,

As I only got about 2 quarts out I put 2 quarts in and ran it on the hose for about 10 minutes then shut it off and checked the oil level. It was at the bottom (L) mark so I added another 1/2 quart. Took it to the lake and put it in. I told my son to take it easy (no more than 30) for about 5 min then bring it back to me. He took it out and said he took it up to about 15 for a few minutes then throttled back and when he tried to bring it back up it was running really rough and would not go more than 3-4 then got worse and died. My other son towed him back and we pulled them and brought them home (about 30 min from running to back home). Checked the oil again and it was half way between the (L) and the (F).

I just changed the plugs prior to doing the oil change and it ran fine. Any thoughts as to what the issue is? I did the exact same thing to the 2009 VX Sport and it was running fine.
