    Planning longer rides in Texas

I am starting to plan some longer rides (100+ miles) in Texas and was wondering if anybody would want to meetup and make it a group thing? I have looked into several places along the Trinity river and lake Granberry/Brazos river and will be doing a 150 mile stretch of the trinity very soon. So far I have always rode alone and reliability is always a concern in the back of my mind 50+ miles from the truck. It would be nice to make a few friends and have some peace of mind. Any interest?

Oh hell ya! Right now my ski is being put back together @ WFO. If it is done in time count me in. I love river running.

I would launch here https://goo.gl/maps/JULb3mRnhkndPchr6 and head north to where highway 7 crosses the Trinity just west of Crockett which is nearly exactly 75 miles each way. I am also looking into a Sabine river run.

I looked into planning a ride up (or down) the Brazos a couple years back but basically came to the conclusion that it would be sketchy due to water conditions, debris, and lack of fuel/recovery options. I also considered running from Galveston to Port Aransas down the intercoastal but figured fuel would be tight to do that.

There is another user on here @boudain who used to do livingston/conroe long rides maybe reach out to him.

There is a Shell station at Matagorda Harbor. Looks like it is half way.

A little confused by your post - half way from what? I looked into it and that is a good location for fuel for a possible future ride for sure but isn't along any of the runs I currently plan to do.

Gotcha didn't put two and two together. I'm doing tons of research on all the waterways of Texas in my spare time and there are thousands and thousands of miles I want to explore. It's looking like the weekend of the 18th of this month might be go time for a ride.

If we put in where the trinity crosses hwy 287 would that be better or worse for everyone? I would go north to just after where the trinity crosses tx 34 and you run into lock and dam #7 then return. This run looks to be a little more interesting than the southern run.
