Now I know why it does not run... X45

I was fed up with ohms etc, so I pulled the motor.
Somebody before me replaced the starter in the boat.
The spring was scattered all around the stator case.
Now i know why it will not start.
Can you see the piece of spring embedded in the stator?
Can you see what it did to the inside of the flywheel? Should I replace it?
Does anybody know why the flywheel is Purple? Obviously painted, but why?

If you can repair the wires the stator may still be good.

Thanks, i will give it a try. Though I have two spare stators.
The timing process I know, but can it be done static out of the ski? Can it be set in the ski?

I also noticed that whoever did this job did not install the metal wire retaining bracket.

What is your thoughts on my plug wire being 2/3 the spec'ed ohms..
    2150 ohms
    2550 ohms
    3730 ohms
