How to remove padding from handlebar?

Trying to find a good spot for mounting GPS plotter on GTI 2020. How do I remove the "padding" in the center of the handlebar?

If I remember correct, there are 2 bolts at the bottom that need to be removed and then it should pull off.

2 screws hold the base to the bars - it kind of snaps off - a bit tricky - pop it from the driver side underneath. then there are 2 screws holding the pad on.

Do not understand. I can not see any screws. Should I try to lift it from below/driver side and see some screws or should it pop off?

Have tried lifting it with as much force as I dare, should I try even harder you think?

Sorry but I have to admit that I am stupid. The pad is really firm on driver side, not a chance to lift it to see any screws.

Is the pic above from a 2020 GTI?

Should I try bending with some tool?

I replaced the pad on my 2018 GTX, you have to pull down on it to release two prongs and the lift up on it to remove it, it just pops back into place, Kevin Shaw from the Watercraft Journal removes it to install heated grips on a Wake 230, shows you how to remove it with a nice video.
