    2003 787 stator cup position

Hello, I'm replacing the long block on my 2003 GTI LE RFI with a 787 engine. My question is on the stator cup, does the cup that is bolted to the flywheel need to be aligned with the flywheel and if so what are the markings?

    Regards

Yes, it needs aligned. Is there no pin sticking out of the flywheel, or witness marks where it used to be.

the only thing a see on the flywheel is there are a few teeth missing on the trigger wheel. I'm guessing that may be an indicator but there is no marks on the stator cup. Any suggestions?

I just looked at one I have in a parts box. It appears the cup can be bolted any way you like cause it's just a mag to produce voltage. But, there is a small locating pin that locates the flywheel to the threaded hub. That pin sits just clockwise of the timing wheel gap looking at the face. There is a number stamped inside the mag cup. That number goes directly over the locating pin.

Thank you for that information. I will check and see if the flywheel and timing wheel are in that location. You have been very helpful and I appreciate that.
