Small handling and speed mods for a 2018 FX svho?

Itís an awesome ski! Itís a comfortable cruiser with a great ride in rough conditions. Fantastic power too! Just wondering if there were any simple, inexpensive mods that you guys could recommend for this ski that might improve handling and speed. Looking to keep it simple. Thanks

The best mod is a tune

A tune? Not sure I want to go messing around with the engine on this beast. Don’t want to risk breaking expensive engine components. Not sure that would be the case but the thought makes me a little nervous. Was hoping there would be something like, sealing the pump, changing the ride plate or sponsons. That was the kind of stuff that improved my old GP 1300. As a matter of fact it seemed like hull and pump improvements did more than engine mods unless you went crazy. Nothing like that on the FX SVHO?

There are plenty of bolt ons but you still need the raise the rev limiter to increase speed. If you donít, even with some simple bolts ons you will be on the limiter and be slower. To make the beat out of the stock tune is to get a Solas prop 13/20, intake, ride plate, and maybe even a ribbon delete, test to see what your rpms and speed Are before Adding the parts. finally, test speed and rpm again after installing parts to see how youíll need your prop tweaked. If you donít want to add a tune youíll have most likely have to bend the prop to a 13/21 to be at 76xx max to stay off the stock limiter. But you wonít know for sure until you test. Hope that helps clarify.

Ok. Yes that does help. In an earlier post a tune was mentioned. Would that be a tune only and zero mods? What exactly does a tune do to increase speed and power? Won’t that put major components at a high risk of failure and reduce overall reliability?

Not necessarily. What’s your wanting in considered very mild and reliable. The bolt ons that compliment the tune will allow for the most speed and Consistent power. The Ruben changes several things to make more power including, timing advancement, fuel tables and rpm increase.

Can you run a tune without any additional mods?

Meant to say tuning. Yea you can run a tune based on What mods you have. But you will not Unlock or get the most out of it without the supporting mods.
