Your going to have to pull the motor and remove anything down in the crank, I HATE SBT but in this case it might make sense, the power value looks concerning like the crank bearing failed
or sell it for parts maybe you can make you money back.

seller should have told you about the stage 2, you can not return it to stock with out the missing exhaust pipe and brackets
and a modified motor like this is not really good for rec riding to much maintenance

Hi Glen. Not sure about all that. Looks like piston overtemped, maybe lost the ring pin. Looks like a pice of ring probably hit the power valve. I will flush the case for sure. No other signs of damage connecting rod is free of damage and bearing at crank has no play etc etc.

Listen to him. The piston did get too hot. Itís a constant tuning struggle to make a race engine last recreationally. Been there. I melted down a Seadoo 787 at Wickiup on avgas. I would sell the stage 2, buy a stock setup and sell the rest. I know where there are probably several.

Wore4money. I wasn’t dismissing his advise only that I won’t be swapping for a new motor until I try the cylinder repair. As far as the stage 2 stuff - I have no idea. No idea what has been removed nor added. I’d love to return it to stock, but I have no idea where to begin. What is missing and other than that aluminum stage 2 sleeve what has been added. What is the sleeve anyway? Should I start a new threat on just this portion? I’d really just like to drive the ski back to him and pitch a tent in his driveway until he returns my money. Frustrated beyond belief. Was supposed to be having fun with the family. Thanks for all of the members help. I’m grateful.

I just looked up the stage 2 kit. I donít even see anything in it to remove. A prop, ride plate, d-plate for cat removal. The sleeve on this ski isnít even in the picture. Is it possible he just added this sleeve? Iíll get some better pics.

Compare your pipe to a stock setup. Here is my 1300. I believe the 1200 looks the same. Click image for larger version.

Take a look at this head again. #2 is the piston that torched itself. The dome on the head is really rough and gouged all over the place. Someone in an earlier reply sis fit would be fine but can I get a second opinion? I fee like it should be replaced but I lack the knowledge you guys do. Here it is.

The real problem isn't that it won't run, but that head will be a place for carbon particles to collect and build up big deposits. These deposits can get so hot they glow and can ignite the fuel prior to the spark plug, i.e. you could end up with a pre-ignition problem. The best thing to do would be to replace it.

If I was not able to replace it, I'd try to smooth it with a mill or something.
