FZS svho 3000rpm limiter... reverse switch?

Something funny going on here. 2015 FZS svho. When I use reverse then shut the machine down, start it back up and attempt to go forward, the machine acts like it's still in reverse and limits the rpm to 3000. The reverse bucket is all the way up, the sensor is not loose or dirty. Pretty sure these are a magnet sensor. Any way to bypass this sensor to diagnose the problem?

UPDATE: I bypassed the sensor and the bypass definitely works but still having the problem shutting down the ski and having a 3000rpm limit. Turn the ski on and off a couple times and it fixes itself. Put the ski in reverse and yes the bypass is still active.
Any thoughts? What else would cause a 3000rpm limiter other than reverse?

No one has had this issue eh?

Check if no wake mode will work, if it is stuck in reverse no wake mode will not work, it could be a fault with the ecu I have seen this once on a 14 fx sho.

Fz's dont have no wake mode

I missed the FZ part. in that case you can monitor on YDIS if the reverse switch is on or off it may not follow the action from the switch when the fault happens.

in particular reverse is the only 3k rpm limit actioned by the ecu.

also according to the service manual "maximum engine speed is limited to approximately 2500r/min" when there is an ETV failure.

I've bypassed the reverse switch so the ecu never sees reverse activated.
    What does ETV stand for?

the ecu limits the rpm not the switch.

Right but the switch tells the ecu that the machine is in reverse which then the ecu knows to limit rpm to ~3000. I've bypassed the switch so the ecu never sees a reverse signal. I'm wondering what else could cause a 3000rpm limit. What does ETV stand for?
