    2004 XL700 replacing starter

I've got the exhaust off and the old starter out. The new starter just came in. Any overall tips on putting the new starter in? Should I use loctite or other threadlocker on the bolts? I can't find anything in regard to manufacturer specs/recommendations on this. What about where the starter meets the motor, that was so hard to get off, should that be lubed or protected somehow?

    Thanks in advance.

Thick grease where the starter goes into the engine. You can put a drop of blue threadlocker on the mounting bolts. Scrape the paint off the new starter where the ground cable mounts.
