how do you test stator vs CDI box?

    how much was stator?

I didn’t end up testing the cdi then but for testing the stator i got into the electrical box with a multimeter, unplugged the stator wires and tested ohms on them. The owners manual and a few threads on here have the values listed for each wire. Stator for this ski runs around $90-$110. Ebay has a good bit of quality stators on there

Danny, i replaced the stator then and back in june i replaced it again for a 2nd time. Been running fine for the past month and have taken it out every weekend just about. Then yesterday she cut off on me and lost spark again just like it did the past 2 times the stator went bad. So at this point im going to pull this stator out and see how she looks and if it needs replacing im going to get a new one and a new rectifier and also check the CDI. Just trying to figure out whatís causing it to keep going out

Let me see if I've got this straight. Yesterday, stator #3 gave out, right?

The two stators that you installed, were they OEM or aftermarket?

When I replaced my GP1200's stator, I bought a used OEM stator and so far it's been working great.

First one was aftermarket, second was OEM. The guy i bought it from said he had replaced it too but I’m not so sure that he did.

The reason that my original, factory stator went out is that the three mounting bolts backed out. Once they did, the stator physically got destroyed. IIRC, two of the three bolts were down in the bottom of the cover and only one bolt was in. Loose, but still in.

I replaced the rectifier too and cleaned up the earth cable and ran an extra earth cable from the battery to the metal Case that holds the CDI and Ignition coils . I did this so the battery cable to engine is not the only earth available.
