Don't even need $9, I use LetsEncrypt on all my sites, 100% free and automated renewals depending on your server setup.

Yeap its crazy, it's the only website I use that doesn't have SSL, even news and weather sites use SSL. I guess it will take some moderator/admin login info getting sniffed before it gets implemented.

Yeah I don't understand not having this site under SSL, it's a huge security hole. It literally costs nothing these days.

This is the only site I visit regularly that doesn't use it, actually I don't remember last time I visited a site that doesn't, it's the standard.

Its a login and password for a forum, why would it need to be under ssl?

it's simply state of the art. No https lowers search ranking scores and also most of the password managers as well as browser will complain about it.

it shouldn't be complicated to add a certificate. Just use https://letsencrypt.org/ and use a cron job to renew it. I guess there is a plugin for the board software.
