Thinking of buying a 2020 fx svho cruiser

So I have a 2016 fx svho modded by Dean stage 2 but thinking of buying a second ski 2020 fx cruiser and transferring some of my mods like riva gen intercooler over to the 2020 and then have Dean flash the 2016 ecu back to a manageable speed for the family to ride. How much better is the 2020 fx svho in handling while I did read they had some problems with ride plate with speeds over 73mph. My 2016 hits about 82-83 at 9500 rpms. Is the 2020 safe if I start modding it? Or my other option was to keep the 2016 modded the way it is and find another 2016fx cruiser for family to ride. Thanks for any help.

I have asked similar questions and have yet to receive an answer. I am guessing that not much folks have tried to mod this chassis or people dont want to share their experiences.
Either way. I just want to know the reliability and known issues 2020FX's are having.

My understanding (I have not yet ridden the 2019-2020 FX hull)

No known mechanical reliability issues, at all.
Engine good, driveline good. HO and SVHO.

Hull handling can become unstable when pushed faster than about 73mph.
Stock/factory configuration (including stock RPM & speed limiters) does not allow the FX hull to go that fast.

Handling can be improved with aftermarket ride plate and intake grate. Especially above that 73 ish speed level.

There is some uncertainty regarding whether these handling improvements are sensitive to which brand parts are installed or how precisely they are positioned/installed.

Some people do not like the rubber latches on glovebox and rear deck storage. Minor annoyance.

I have had no reliability issues with my 19 FXSVHO and have around 30hrs on it.
The only issues I see if tuned, an after market or modded ride plate is a must and I also had a bounce issue with the Riva plate.
I was able to fix the bounce issue with the Riva plate but I recently added the Riva sponsons in the up position and now have a slight bounce that needs to be addressed.
Mod for mod it is a little slower than the previous FX hull or at least mine is, but it handles and carves much better than the previous hull.

You would think the newer the ski the better it would be

i almost bought a 2019 fx svho. every thing ive heard about them im glad i bought my 2016 fx svho which was stock and 20 hrs on it. i installed the riva stage 3 17lb/9500 tune when i got it and she runs great its a 87+ mph ski. ive put 40 hrs on it last summer and never missed a beat. the 16-18 is a proven hull design at the speeds im going. with the riva sponsons it handles and carves pretty good. its the best over all ski i ever had in 20 yrs of ridding. its fast and handles the chop well. thing are ify far as im concern about the hull design on the 19-20 fx svho. i think their ok stock or lightly modded, just havent seen any stage 3 builds on them yet or how they do. take that to the bank or with a grain of salt...

    Known issues I have seen.

Ride plate as has been discussed.
    Wetter ride than older model.
    Burping when fueling.
Inaccuracy of fuel gauge and buzzer going off for low fuel with up to half tank left. Fuel burned more accurate.
Little slower than outgoing model. ~8800 rpm for ~83mph
Vid showing rpm vs. mph from Riva

Everybody says new model superior handling and is winning races.

the 2020 riva fx is a good looking ski. wonder what it would do with a 17lb wheel in it. maybe in time some one on here will build a 2020 fx riva stage #3 and make me eat my words...

I am going to pull the trigger on a 2015 fx svho. The timing chains were bad in 2014. I think 2016 they were fixed but what should I do with this 2015? Replace the chain before it goes boom?
