    97 SLTX CDI and STATOR UPGRADE

    Ok. Simple enough, right? not really. I was wondering if anyone knows the part numbers off the newer style CDI and stator. Is this something I can get off ebay used or do I need to use the "$600" upgrade kit?

    Always best to get an OEM part. The aftermarket stuff is quite hit and miss. Maybe call some of the big used parts shops to get an upgraded OEM.

    Like henryb said...aftermarket stuff not from a reliable source is very hit and miss. A lot of people have been getting them from SBT with good results. https://www.shopsbt.com/mm5/merchant...-fuel-ignition

    I was wondering if a carbureted 99 Polaris 1200 Stator, Magneto, and CDI would work?

    99 was the first year for the gen3 ignition and only in the 1200 which will only be the Genesis and X45.
    The stator works like aN "update" stator but has a different seal at housing and wires do not run all the way to the electrical box.
    No magneto.
    All 3 cylinder domestic coils are wired/work the same.96's had a different firing order that can be made to work.

    If you swap to a 99 or later flywheel housing then yes it will work.
