Keith, Have you done a compression test yet. Since this is a NA motor the slightest loss in compression can cause this motor not to reach max rpms, Tommy Jordan

I removed my air filter and it looked compromised. Riva was closed, and I have a bunch of parts laying around. I re purposed the stock SHO intake tube and some garage fabrication to develop my own intake. The ski seems to be near, or on the rev limiter with the stock prop, and the air is horrible today. Needless to say, it was choked up. I'll play with props and nozzles another time...I just wanted it to at least rev first. Excuse the poor videos, I was trying to video with one hand and ride and my fingers shut one off mid run.

*ALSO, I did add the plate from a 19' up GP1800 at the same time as I did the intake. I took the one off my GP to test it on this ski. Needless to say, I ordered another one.

And the air is horrible today, so I'm overly pleased.

Tommy...I thought I'd share your exhaust mod.
Sounds GREAT on this ski. Zero drone, and stands out from a stock one. The tone of this mod with zero drone is the beauty of it. Thanks for the insight.

Do you have a ribbon delete? Did you mod the seat before the filter change?

I am still low low on RPM, I am running the Riva filter and ribbon delete. I’m wondering if I’m not getting enough airflow into the hull to feed the motor.

Im thinking the exact same thing. Next thing to try may be to take a rip with the seat off and see if anything changes.

I did the ribbon delete (no sleeve installed because I didn't plan on doing it so soon, and didn't have the sleeve), and I modified my seat at the same time I did the intake. I did ride with the rear seat off with no change in rpm AFTER I did the intake mod. As mentioned, the difference in the ski is night and day from with the stock airbox, but my oem filter looked compromised. The pleats were distorted and if you held the filter up and down and looked at the direction of the airflow, the paper element itself bulged towards the throttlebody as if the motor was sucking it in from lack of air flow. The ski only has 30hrs and was overfull of oil by a quart. That could be the reason the filter was "clogged", from the oil mist out of the crankcase vent. Either way, the ski picked up drastically. I wasn't going to quit until I fixed it, it just so happen to be something fairly easy.

Glad it worked out for you. This is why I shared my mod with the forum. Tommy Jordan
