This is the best vxr thread, really great work. It’s also the worst thread because I have been non stop looking for a used vxr. Apparently, I need a 70 mph NA ski to accompany my (soon to be) 80+ gp1800r. I have an 06 seadoo gti 155, but after this thread, that second ski is not good enough. Thanks Keith

No problem. Hopefully some guys get good useable power and less wasted top end rpm as a result of this thread. Once an efficient intake is installed and you're getting sufficient air to the inlet (that's a must, both), you'll find a lot of wasted rpm on top end, The different nozzles come into play there really giving you useable power, not just blowing water through the big 87mm nozzle. As mentioned, I had great success with a brand new factory impeller and the GPR 60t 5 degree 85mm nozzle with the thin diffuser vanes that I drilled and tapped for the reverse provisions. I really like that setup. Keith

Where on the nozzle do you drill and tap for the reverse bucket?

I have a 2014 VXR with Dean's team reflash, 12/16 prop and pump wedge. I'm wondering if this would yield some similar results.

You'll see 3 bosses in the casting on each side of the nozzle that are blank (no holes). Drill and tap each center where the reverse bucket lines up. I believe the factory 6 bolts are 6x1mm thread pitch. You can't miss them when you look at the nozzles side by size.

Your going to need the brackets to mount the reverse bucket and I'm not sure if the steering nozzle will bolt up without the trim ring.Your 2014 has no trim and the brackets are part of the plastic exit nozzle.

I had the ski out earlier this week. I was 1000 feet higher in elevation than where I usually ride. It was down 250 rpm from the last ride and probably down 3MPH. I only ran 62.9 as opposed to 65.9. What’s odd is my GP1800 ran exactly the speed and RPM I expect it to. I still plan to try the different pump nozzles on this vxr but I just don’t think the speed is there with this one

Your VXR has not had this done, correct?
