2003 GTX exhaust temp sensor ?

    Hello

What is the purpose of the exhaust temp sensor? I know if it gets really hot the dash starts beeping, however is this used as an input to the ecu to control the engine?

I've had one go bad in the past. Buzzer goes off and displayed high exhaust temperature, end up being a bad sensor. I believe it will put the engine in Limp Home mode, can't go over 3000rpm. I believe the engine temperature sensor and intake manifold sensor will control the engine for start up and idle.

It monitors and help keep you from melting your exhaust system (hoses, resonators) if its not getting sufficient cooling. It does not have any input as for as controlling the engine, other than putting it in limp mode when it overheats.

Great, Iíve got a homemade exhaust now and didnít want to mount this thing back in it. Iíve got it zip tied to the outside of the j-pipe so it will read something.
