do any of these have to be checked by turning the motor by hand or no?
There is a specific method for testing the Hall Effect sensors on red carb engines. Details posted and linked

It involves a 9 volt battery, specific polarity of ohm meter test probs.
And slowly turning the engine crank by hand (spark plugs removed to avoid cylinder compression effects).

lets just assume everything with the stator is good considering it is a brand new oem replacement. What would the next step in troubleshooting be? stator checks out, lr505 checks out, next culprit cdi?

Confirm the actual voltage reaching the CDI, with engine cranking, stays well above 10.6 volts. Red/Purple and Black wires, which go directly into the CDI module.

Also, disconnect the CDI ignition kill wire (Black/Yellow IIRC).

If still no spark, CDI is suspect.

so you're saying put my red probe on the red wire going into the cdi and put my black probe on the black cdi ground which is grounded to the lr505 hold down screw then crank it? is that correct? sorry sometimes my overthinking gets the best of me

    Correction.
Red/Purple wire is power wire into the CDI.

It is the CDI itself which requires a certain minimum voltage while cranking. Sometimes an issue with wiring allows the 'battery' voltage to be good but the actual voltage going into the CDI is not quite enough.

Don't forget to disconnect the ignition kill CDI wire from the terminal board. For testing purposes.

results are: voltage on battery while cranking= 11.6 voltage on red wire going to cdi while cranking= 8.9

you did mean the solid red wire going to the cdi and not the red/purple going to the cdi right?

    My bad.

CDI power input is Red/Purple wire.

Mostly working from memory here, sometimes I miss a detail.
