Ultra 150 Mystery Heads?? Help Identify!

    Hey all,

Just bought my first Ultra 150. It's a 2001 modded ski with the SkiWorx Level 1 kit. Previous owner bought it with a blown bottom end and swapped in a 2003 stock bottom end and kept the aftermarket heads. Said he got 170 PSI across all 3 cylinders but felt it was too high for the supposedly 42cc heads. Shouldn't compression be more like 150-155 PSI with 42cc heads? Maybe the replaced bottom end needs to be broken in (I would guess the rings are new). He said he did the compression test cold with a lot of fogging oil in the cylinders.

Any idea what heads these are? The text on them say "Red" but I cannot find anything about these on the internet. The reinforcement plates between the heads say "SkiWorx". The Previous owner did not do the level 1 kit and just flipped it so never had it in the water. Kept 104 octane fuel in it when testing it since he felt the compression was too high.

If no one knows then I could always put an acrylic plate on the head and fill the head with water to measure cc. I'm also still in contact with the previous owner and has sort of become my "Jet Ski parts" guy. So I can ask him stuff about the engine, but he didn't know much about the heads.

Those are R & D heads. I can't tell you anything about them, but R & D made a lot of PWC accessories. Sadly, they closed last year.

Oh wow do I feel stupid lol. That's an & symbol, not an "e" haha. Well thanks for helping me out! Any idea if these heads came identified with their displacement? Looking on ultra150.com, looks like R&D sold their Red heads as either 36cc or 42cc.

As you said the6 come in 42cc or 36cc. With stock pistons 42cc should around 145psi and 36cc should be around 180psi. Now groupk also modified these heads to use on their level 2 kits with modified pistons and may have also used them on there level 1 kit with the stock pistons. Guessing I would say you have stock pistons with 36cc heads.

I see you have one of the heads off. Post a pic of the chamber on like a 45 deg angle I can probably tell you if they are 42 or 36

I have a complete set of R&D 36cc red heads brand new in package if you need a replacement. The interchangeable domes were always easier if you wanted to switch back and forth from pump gas to race gas.

The compression test results are bogus because of the fogging oil in the cylinder. Redo the compression test.
