Pump inspection tips
I just pulled the entire pump and shoe, plate grate etc. from my 01'GP1200R It has been apart before(used boat) and it's not pretty. Prop shows some damage, and some pretty bad cav burns. I want to inspect the pump stator etc. I spun one ride plate insert so im going to fix that, my question is what else should I look for, pump damage etc. What goes wrong with these things, there is a gap in the pump liner to housing, is this normal, does anyone have pics of what a normal setup looks like, and maybe waht common things I can look for while I have it apart. Also how do I know the bearings are good or bad? Ski has 100hrs on it, I know the engine was replaced at between 40-50 or so? THANKS!!!
