    Extended Extended Warranty?

I picked up a 2015 310X almost 2 years ago. I was able to purchase the extended warranty, giving a total of 5 years of warranty coverage, that expires in April, 2020. Today, I received an offer from Kawasaki to continue the warranty for another 2 years. This means that my 'Ski would be covered under warranty until it was 7 years old. They want $1100 for the additional 2 years of coverage.

I thought I was going to run the hell out of it while it was in warranty in case I was affected by the piston problem, but right now it has less than 30 hours on the engine. Life got in the way. I was thinking of tearing it down myself and installing the better pistons, or even some of the aftermarket pistons, now I'm not sure.

    What would you guys do?

    Pistons are about $600...

My pistons crapped out aff nd the warranty claim was $5900.00.

If I would have not had the extended warranty I would have been out of pocket the entire $5900.

    Just my experience..

Wow, don’t think I have heard of anyone receiving that offer. We also purchased the 5 years extended warranty from day one purchasing Gina’s 16 Kawi 310R. Never needing it thankfully for no more then one coolant/water hose that had a split.
Currently 354 hrs and running like day one , we both love the ski. I know we would have to really consider taking them up on the offer if it was to present itself to us. Just for that added insurance policy and peace of mind.

I'd take them up on it for sure, although $550 per year is pretty steep.

It depends on how much you think you will drive it in the next two years. The pistons are a known risk and from what I've read there doesn't appear to be a pattern so there is no predicting if/when they will fail. The high cost of the contract indicates that the chance of failure is higher than you might think. As a comparison, I paid about $1,000 for 4 additional years of coverage on my '17 RXT but I have found that there are exclusions.

A starter replaced at the dealership would cost more than $500.00...
    Just sayin!

Mercury Marine has done this for years, last time around I thought nah screw it dont wanna spend the $1000. After my initial extended warranty that I had purchased expired. Man was that a stupid decision, motor popped 4 months later. For $1100, it's very cheap insurance. Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for everybody's responses! I think I'll go ahead and take advantage of their offer and get the extra warranty extension.

Don't blame you, I would do the same. Wonder if we will receive that as an option on Gina’s 16 310R. That was a offer straight from Kawasaki protection plus? Is there anyway you can attach the letter
