Sounds like a classic EMM problem to me. If you post a picture of the serial number on the sticker on the EMM I can give you an even better prediction. EMM failure modes are grouped roughly by about a 1.5 year bracket. Each one having a new and different problem

Looks like the EMM's been replaced or repaired before.

Interesting! Not from the bad capacitors era then.

Trouble idling can be wrong spark plugs. "Autolite equivalent" or anything else other than NGK PZFR6H (or Champion QC10PEP) will not work.

Looks like I may have a bad stator. I tested it's resistance at the 12 pin connector per the manual.

    12v stator winding resistance (pins: 1 & 12 / 2 & 11): Spec: 0.1 - 0.3 ohm = On pins 1/12 I'm @ 0.7 ohm and 2/11 is @ 0.8 ohm

    45v stator winding resistance (pins: 3 & 10 / 4 & 9 / 5 & 8 ) : Spec: 0.3 - 0.5 ohm = I'm @ 0.6 ohms on all 3 sets of pins

Stator pins 1-12 to ground: Spec: O.L. = All pass

Your stator is most likely fine. Measuring fractions of ohms requires specialized test equipment. (The meter lead resistance is significant).
