    Nope.

No chance of the cylinders being swapped since the last time it was running properly?

The typical cause of not firing until a spark plug is removed is marginal battery strength. Removing a spark plug reduces the load on the starter motor so the engine cranks faster with less voltage droop. The red engine ignition is very sensitive to battery voltage sag during cranking.

Rather than removing a spark plug, use an old spare spark plug. That way the compression load on the starter remains consistent. I suspect the engine will not start with all three spark plugs installed, with one plug wire connected to a spare spark plug (and grounded).

I replaced my 96 1050 ignition and had issues with weak/ sporadic spark. I swore up and down the battery was good. It turned out to be the battery - new one with a full, overnight charge and the 1050 pop right off!

Other thought / insights I learned:
    >do not locktite the stator bolts (ground issue)
    >my firing order changed and had to swap two CDI wires
    >wire are easy to pinch in the box cover
    >did I mention battery, battery, battery???

It is definitely voltage I think. Still at 10.8 or higher but it seems to need more voltage. 1 out of every 15 times it will start. Shut it off it it won't restart right away. What is the best battery to put into this thing? I don't have time for this unit any more. Wondering where I can send this guy to have it looked at? We are up in Bancroft area. I assume this guy is from Toronto area though.

Canadian Tire sells the Deka ETX series batteries under their own branding.

The CT stores in your area show just a few in inventory. The AGM powersports batteries tend to sell out quickly.

Tip: Double check and mark the positive battery post location BEFORE you hook up the cables.

10.8 ish volts while cranking is quite low for that battery. I would expect well above 11.0 volts while cranking.

Battery needs charging (use an AGM compatible smart charger) or something else is not right.

Take the battery back to where you bought it, ask them to test it.
Ask them for the actual cold cranking amps and voltage from the test.
