Polaris 2001 Virage 1200 Tx Hall Effect

While performing the Hall Effect tests for no spark on a 2001 Polaris Virage 1200 Tx with a Red carb engine I am getting OHM readings of 102 Ohms for each coil as opposed to less than 25 seen in other psots. What does this indicate?

    Welcome.

    Which coils are you testing?

Thanks for response. I am performing the trigger coils test using the 9 volt battery.

The Hall Effect sensors are not wire coils, they are electronic sensors that detect the passing of a tiny magnet embedded in the flywheel timing ring.

With Hall Effect sensors the exact ohms reading will vary depending on which ohmmeter you are using.

The important thing is that when the magnet passes the Hall Effect sensor the measured ohms changes from many hundreds of thousands or even meg-ohms down to a few hundred ohms or less. It is the sudden change in resistance that indicates the sensor is working.

When the magnet begins to move away from the sensor the ohms should jump back up to a very high measurement.
