    1996 XP 787 Hydro Lock 2nd time

Well, it's happened again to my 96 XP 787!! two years after replacing the crank for hydro lock, it has hydro lock again??? I cant imagine that the seal on a new crank have already deteriorated ??.........can turning the PTO/crank by hand to grease the PTO fitting be the cause of hydro lock ??? coz it happened just after I did this?

Greasing the PTO would not cause this, maybe a shop rag left in the intake... JK Could be leaking carbs? What came out the cylinders when you turned it over with the spark plugs out?? Gas or Oil? If its oil could be the RV seal leaking. Or the crank seals but no likely.

Oil came out, I forgot to mention that I replace the rotary valve at the same time as the crank.

Well its either the crank seals or the RV seal. Replaced the rotary valve or the rotary valve seal?

I replaced the RV seals too, I guess I'm gonna have to tear this engine down again or maybe its time to trade it in for 2020 models, I have had nothing but problems with this engine!

    Thanks for your help.

Put a full flow valve in the oil line that feeds rotary valve area. Turn the valve off when you're done riding. Problem fixed money saved. How long does the ski sit before you have problems starting? If nothing else, your bearings are getting good oil. LOL

My first seadoo engine rebuild (1997 GTX 787) I bought a used crankshaft. I was very new to skis. After building the engine I had issues with oil locking up the engine. I assume the crank I purchased was replaced for a reason. Ski runs great... and hauls butt. I believe in "condition based maintenance" and good preventive maintenance and monitoring. Other than paying attention to the valve being open or closed there is no other issue. Ski should be fine. Good Luck !!

Is it an SBT crank?? They use crap bearings and seals. As stated either just valve it off or do a rotary gear oil loop and fill it with thick gear lube leaving the injection part alone. That's what I do for my customers.

Most of the time its poor sealing of the cases not the seals that leak.
