Luckily there wasn’t an extra 10mm socket at that shop

One of the first things I was taught at the car dealership

    Rag count

we got a bag of ten for every job bag had to be turned into service writer with finished ticket

As the story goes there was an incident involving a timing chain a few years previous

    Hi.
    Had the same situation today.
    A month ago i de-winterized my RXPX300.
Started ok, was running for a while. Perfect. Ready for lockdown release.

And today without moving it for a month blum, blum very hard to turn over. I have another 260 and 215 so had some spares.
Changed a starter -nothing changed, new battery -same, checked ground cable and battery positive - same.
So i put my finger on supercharger middle bolt and try to crank. Charger didnt move when engine done 1 turn.

And this is what i found when removed supercharger:

    Salt crystals all over.
Hot water, 10 min and now running sweet.

So i have to say i can believe dealer. Unfortunately ,
    Cheers J

This is why you should buy a service manual and do you own maintenance

Salt catch and build up between compressor back side and hosing.
Bearing sound ok after cleaning. No noise whatsoever, and spinning like a dream.
Ill leave it so far but ill get kit for it for after season maintenance.

Just wondering how this salt gets there?

Inlet is absolutely clean. Salt cristals were visible 20 cm inside inlet hose. Rest was clean.
I need to investigate that. Specially it has only 35 hours.

About a catch can - its for oil i thought? Can you say more about it?

Now waiting for this sick pandemic restrictions to be removed.
I need to test both rxpx300and rxpx260 after engine rebuild.

    Cheers J
