93 SL650 solenoid
My first post!
I've read over a ton of threads on this great site about my newly aquired ski. Never owned one, been out on the lake one time on a ski for 5 minutes. I rebuild snowmobiles most all winter so the engine rebuild was fine. Had to put the motor back together with a new crank but that's done.
Anyways...now to the electrical.
I can jump the solenoid and get it to turn over just fine. The 'start' button does nothing. No noise, etc from the solenoid. Disconnected the kill switch (bl/y and black), no change. Reconnected it, no change.
I also read to touch the y/r start wires to the the red/puple terminals on the board...nothing.
Is there a fuse or something I am missing? Everything appears to be hooked up correctly. I do not believe it's a ground issue. Using a jumper pack to turn it over w/o the plugs in for testing.
Thanks for the help.

If someone can verify the above testing that I did, I'd appreciate it.
I'm thinking the solenoid HAS to be the problem but ya just never know.

Check the start button for a short. And try putting 12V to the starter directly, to make sure the starter is good.

The start button has no effect whatsoever. By pressing it, it does not have make a diffence in meter readings accross the solenoid or anywhere. I checked the circuit breaker in and out. Ohm tested the start button, showed open and closed. No power is getting accross the solenoid unless I jumper it.
When I hook the battery up, I get a 'beep' from under the console, so I know I have good connections.
The starter engages perfectly and cranks the motor when I jump the solenoid.
Hope this helps. My first experience with one of these things. Geez, it is hard to work on once the motor is in. Sleds are much easier.

Sounds like a bad soleniod. I just replaced the one on my Virage and it was $35 from my local Polaris dealer. If you dont have Polaris locally you can order from Atlantic Power Sports (see "Service and Accessories Connections" sticky thread.) They offer a 10% discount to Green Hulk Members. If you want to try to find a used one you can try John Zigler. He is the link in my signature. Good luck.

It should still crank without the lanyard, but the plugs won't fire. What was I thinking? It's probably the solenoid.

I thought about the lanyard issue. So just in case I took apart the lanyard switch just to make sure it was not stuck and causing this issue.
No change at all.
Thanks for the thought though.
