Confused about HO Pump / Extension

Guys, I have a 2000 GP1200R. I am in the market for a new impeller so I'm wondering if I shouldn't just bite the bullet and go to the 05+ HO pump with the 2" extension.

First of all, think I should?

Second, confused on all what I need! I keep reading drive shafts versus intermediate shafts and all that and now I have no clue.

Simply, what do I need to go from my 2000 GP1200R to an 05 HO pump with 2" extension?

I don't supposed I can just buy an 05+ jet pump unit used and expect it to work, can I?

I should say, I know I need steering and trim extensions - are those still even available?

I suggest riding what you have. It's not that big of a difference and by the time your done you can buy an 05 with it

I run a HO pump without the extension. Not alot of gain with the extension. Acceleration is better with the HO pump.

The HO pump and extended steering nozzle are both available. You can buy both for <$300.
