Guys, I'm tearing down my wife's 2001 XL800 this winter to do a top end (proactively thank God), wave eater clips and couplers, holeshot kit, and aftermarket f/a's. Since the engine is so far torn down, I was wondering if there's anything I need to do with the carbs? Do the 66E engines have a lean midrange that I need to worry about like the 66V's?

I see the carbs have an accelerator pump.

I know technically I will need to rejet with the aftermarket f/a's but I am at 6000' elevation and the jetting is stock. I'm sure I'm rich now and figured I might get lucky with the f/a's offsetting the elevation.

Anybody have info on this?
