Yamaha waverunner 2016 dx delux burns down on my yard

    Hi,
I know in USA , yamaha got recalls for vx deluxe 2016 ( among several other models) the fuel line problem but here in australia they don't. Well my jetski just burned down passed saturdey 6am when it was nicely sitting on secure yard when I was asleep but woke up to a boom/ loud pop explosion sound. Anybody experiencing fuel line issue and or electrical of any sort ?
    cheers

Hi, thnx for asking, no insurance, we thought hey what could possibly happen, it is not a car sort of thinking, apparently not correct, grrr. Thinking about getting another one but not 2016 model for sure. PTSD (post traumatic syndrome disorder) maybe 2017 + insurance at this time. Just curious, how much your ins.? Anyway, I do hope no other units lost...

Sounds like a plausible recipe - yet there are no bilge pump on those models, AFAIK. Had to be some other ignition-source. All the damage is above the tank - there's a wad of connectors in that area too - just sayin.
Also note, this is a TR1 platform - not that it matters, but I think 2016 is the 1st year those hit the wild.

Seems you have been very unlucky, but insurance is a must as if you hit a swimmer, skier or boat the damage to the machine is insignificant to the costs you could incur if you are sued........are huge...... also in many places (may be different in Aus) you can’t launch without 3rd party insurance.

    Hi,
an update, I call my local yamaha a week ago and I was told I can't pick it up, they are waiting for somebody coming from yamaha. Yesterday I was going through all the papers and I noticed HIN number started with US-..... wow, is that jetski imported from usa? Well if yes that's the one with recall of gas line disconnecting. Can you guys take a look at your HIN number and tell me do you have US at the beginning of it in australia? Anyway, miss my jetski-ing, grrr
    cheers

Curious ... what was the last-known level of fuel inside the tank just-prior to this incident?

    Hi,
I'd say 1/2 tank, why? Any thought. I was just talking to Yamaha, they found no fault on their part I was told. Well I haven't either so we are on the same page I guess.
