    2005 seadoo rxt 215 supercharged

I just changed the timing cover on my 2005 seadoo rxt. I used the timing cover off a 2006 machine. I know a 2006 cover has an external crank sensor so I used a dummy sensor to plug the hole in the cover. I changed my internal crank sensor and stator to the 2006 cover because they worked on the 2005 cover. I replaced the covers because the oil pressure relief valve stuck and caused damage to the original cover. Now seadoo won’t start and I have a crank sensor fault code that I never had before. Any suggestions?

you need to put the timing encoder wheel in a different position

there are some threads discussing that issue on the forum. it's a pretty common issue when mixing different year parts

2005 seadoo rxt 215 Super charged

Hi. Thanks for the info. But the reason I installed my internal crankshaft sensor and stator was to keep the the trigger wheel timed for 2005. I already have a 2006 crankshaft installed in seadoo and have already moved the trigger wheel to the 2005 11:00 o’clock position. The seadoo started perfectly but would go into limp mode after about 20 mins of use. This is when I found the problem with the oil pressure relief valve. The seat collapsed and caused debris to go through my old cover. I was afraid to reuse so I installed the 2006 cover. The only difference I saw was the fact the 2006 cover had external crankshaft sensor. So as I indicated I used a dummy sensor in the cover position hole( this dummy sensor is not hooked to any electrical connectors and is only used to plug the hole to prevent oil leak) and used my own internal crank sensor and stator. The 2006 cover has the ability to mount the internal crankshaft sensor in the same position as the 2005 cover. So technically the timing shouldn’t have to e re pinned.

seems your on top of the situation fully.

check the harness connections, I recall an issue where it's easy to switch two of them around.
