Thanks timebandit, that clarifies it for me. The gauge is really hard to read, I think it was 600ish. Does the gauge not show the thousand hour digit? I think it has 1,400 hours, I actually though it was going to show more then that but I got excited when I first saw 655 hrs on the printout!

The total hours are calculated as a 16-bit unsigned integer, which is why it reads 655.36 max. Manually add up the RPM range hours to get the actual total hours.

Wow, having worked with micro-controllers, I should have caught that !! I knew that number looked familiar - LOL
Naturally we can assume the individual RPM ranges are also uint_16, thus could max out too.
    Many thanks !!

65536 is the max decimal count for 16 bits, so the hour counter increments in one minute intervals?

Weird that it doesnít count straight minutes starting from zero and then convert to hours:minutes for display.

If 655.36 hours is really the max, seems weird that it doesnít count straight minutes starting from zero and then convert to hours:minutes for display. 1092.267 Hours would be the max conversion for 65536 straight minutes.

Or a 32-bit integer by now.

Hmmmmm .... having only gave me 16 bits of space ... I might have considered dropping hundredths... making 6,553.6 hours the total max... & keep it for the range registers.

    How might this be confirmed?

I also had a bunch of stored codes all from 655.34 hrs. It seems that mine stopped at 655.34, if it had stopped at 655.36 it would have probably rounds up to show 655.4 total hours

Hmmm all makes sense apart from the skis with more than 655 hours...... of which there are many, so OEM will a higher than 655 hour ski and yds could answer this in a flash....

me thinks that in 2008 Yamaha knew rental skis would do several thousand hours in just a few years potentially so a limit at 655 seems very very strange as they could do that within the warranty period....
