    2003 XL700 Engine Seized.Options??

Debating on what to do with this.

I bought a pair of these that have been sitting for years. One the engine spins free but the other is seized and just want to see what my options are and who sells rebuilds. Can I get a larger motor? Is it even worth fooling with?

    thanks

I should ad that the pump spins free on the one with the bad engine. Both need new starters and the carbs rebuilt.

remove cylinder jugs and determine problem first. If no rust found down in crank cases, you can rebuild pretty easily with new pistons/rings. jugs may or may not need replacing. I think they are nikasil coated and if not damaged can be lightly honed. If heavily scored you need to replace them. If rust is found in crankcase, forget it. not worth the rebuild. It is possible the 03 is still the non power valve motor. If that is the case, jugs can be bored as they are iron liners.
You can install the 1200 66V or the 1200 65U triple in this ski hull but will take a lot of work.

Thanks, Iíll try and get the other one running and then think about an engine for this one. Who makes good carb kits for the Mikunis?

Use genuine Mikuni only. Usually about $50 per carb.

The 701 engine is very inexpensive to rebuild. Cranks are readily available, and the jug is sleeved and can be easily rebored oversize.

    Wink

So the Bendix was stuck on the flywheel and the starter came out like this. I assume I have to remove the flywheel and get the front of the starter out.

Can I clean and save the bendix or toss it?

Good news is now the engine rotates

Chunk that bendix. You can get a good used oem one for like $25 on ebay. Many, many different skis all use the same one.
