The non linear sensor is a pain as all gauges expect a linear resistance from full to empty.
I can't find my resistance measurement that I added to make it more linear. I managed to have it reading accurate (sort of) from half to empty

Here is a short video of mine when I got it working. I use some 5mm black perspex to cover the original clock outline then fixed the new gauge to the perspex

Very clean install. Did you ground the wire to the gauge or to the ecu? I assume since the wire runs direct to the ecu you would drop the wire from the ecu to ground but lets confirm it.

I connected the blue/yellow from the ecu to black from the ecu. I also used the same black wire from the ecu as the negative 0 volts to my new gauges.
    hope that helps.

I'd bet that the non-linear ranging is a holdover from the old style gauges that used a single float on a wire arm and a rheostat. That would give a sinusoidal response.

I'm working on this as well. Except I am considering one of these guys:

That's interesting. I would certainly want to seal it up real good.

has anyone ever dismantled the sending unit? Whats inside is four reed switches and resistors. I think I have a spare I will try to rummage up and take it apart. If it isnt entirely epoxy encapsulated, it should be fairly straightforward to swap resistors.

I have not played with it. The ultra one piece units use an arm and circuit board, you may be able to just swap those out. Now that I think about it, making a basic arm with contact pads can't be that hard can it?

I have all the stuff to convert a 15f to ultra lx electronics. The missing link is the fuel sender. I'm gonna try to disassemble an old one and report back lol.
